Duties of the County Clerk:
Serves as the Auditor-Controller and Clerk-Recorder for the county
Acts as the ex officio registrar of voters and the ex officio clerk of the Board of Supervisors, commissioner of marriages, county parking agent and Local Agency Formation Commission executive officer
Files birth and death certificates
Files marriage licenses
Files deeds, liens, and other documents relating to property
Files military discharge records
Provides notary bonds and oath services
Files fictitious business name statements
Processes and transfers taxes
Files environmental impact reports
Files grand jury reports
Files power of attorney statements
Performs marriage ceremonies
Documents all records and makes them easily accessible to the public
Oversees the online record and document search services
Provides forms and fees needed to file official documents
Processes and accepts fees associated with filing documents
Processes and maintains all board records and agendas, attending and taking minutes at sessions of the board and its affiliated agencies (including Board of Equalization, Local Transportation Commission, and Water Agency)
Maintains local appointments list and processes applications for board-appointed commissions (Planning Commission, Library Commission, Commission on Aging, etc.)
Registering voters in the county and maintaining voter files, verifying petitions, filing campaign statements, conducting elections in the county
Receives parking violation payments and processes appeals
