The Clerk of Court is the official record keeper of the courthouse. The clerk is responsible for filing judicial papers with the court, collecting filing fees, overseeing courtrooms and court schedules, making the local court rules known, and assisting with finding pro-bono lawyers.

The Clerk of Court does not only oversee criminal cases, the clerk is responsible for assisting with civil courts, small claims courts, family law, such as divorces and child custody, probate courts, traffic courts, and other collaborative courts, such as drug court, family treatment court, reentry court, and Veterans treatment court.

The Clerk of Court is an elected official who is a servant to the public.

The mission of the court and clerk of court is to preserve the integrity of and trust in the judicial system through the application of laws, policies and procedures that result in an equitable, fair and impartial forum for our community; those who need disputes decided and to preserve the rights and maintain order, dignity and safety of all who live or come in contact with the Del Norte County Superior Court.

A search can be made on the Del Norte Clerk’s webpage. Recorded documents may be researched and requested online from 1986 to present. Documents such as grant deeds, deeds of trust, substitutions of trustees, full reconveyances, assignments of deeds of trust, tax liens, and abstract judgements can be searched online.
