The County Recorder of Deeds is not always a separate office. The County Clerk functions as the recorder for counties with fewer than 60,000 people. The County Recorder is a separate position in counties with more than 60,000 people. The Recorder is responsible for all land records and may file other documents, such as military discharge certificates.
