Duties of the County Clerk:
Acts as the chief election official of the county and files voter registration records
Sets up and provides voting locations for the county
Records and indexes deeds, mortgages, liens, and surveys of plats
Records vehicle and boat registrations and renewals
Processes applications for car and boat titles
Provides permits and tags for motor vehicles
Acts as tax collector for the county
Provides delinquent tax information to the county
Acts as Vital Statistics registrar including birth, death, marriage, divorce, and military veteran’s discharge records
RECORDS SEARCH AND PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST
Public Judicial Court Records provides free access to public case information throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Records can be searched online using the state’s database. The name on the record or the case number is needed to make a search.
All other records can be obtained through the county clerk’s office. The record request must be made in writing or in person. A detailed description of the record being requested and the requester’s contact information is needed.
