FRANKLIN COUNTY, KENTUCKY COUNTY CLERK/RECORDER DATABASE
Duties of the County Clerk:
Files birth and death certificates for the county
Issues marriage licenses and performs marriage ceremonies
Files voter registrations, processes mail-in absentee votes and is in charge of accounting for military and overseas voters
Records all election information and allows the public access to the results and information
Records and indexes records pertaining to property, such as deeds, liens and mortgages and provides a free online database to search land records
Registers motor vehicles, files title transfers and renewals, and issues special permits for vehicles such as disabled parking stickers
Provides motor vehicle renewals online
Provides free motor vehicle VIN searches
Collects delinquent taxes for the county and organizes auctions for belongings which have been seized due to the failure of paying back taxes
Collects fees for filing records in the office
Makes records easily accessible for the public
RECORDS SEARCH AND PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST
Public Judicial Court Records are provided by the state. The state provides a free database to search for case information. Cases can be searched by the name on the document, the document number, or the case number. Records from all counties in the state are available for search.
Franklin County has an open records policy. The person requesting the records must be a Kentucky resident and cannot use the records for commercial use. The county provides a record request form for download. A detailed description of the record being requested and the requester’s contact information is needed.
Once the form is completed, it can be submitted to the following via mail, fax, email, or in person.
