Every county has a clerk of court for their circuit courts. The clerk of court is an elected official who serves a 6 year term. The clerk is responsible for filing and maintaining all records pertaining to the judicial court. In addition to overseeing official court records, the clerk is responsible for attending juries in the courtroom. The clerk handpicks members of the jury and confirms oaths and affirmations. The clerk is considered a highly respected member of the judicial system.

The state of Kentucky provides a free database to search judicial court records. Records from all counties can be accessed. The name on the record or the case number is needed to make a search.

The Ohio County Clerk is responsible for issuing copies of public records when requested. A record request form is available for download. Once the form is completed, it can be submitted in person, by mail, fax, or email.
