The Clerk of Court is an elected official who serves a 4 year term. The clerk of court is the official record keeper for the court. As Clerk of the Court, the clerk opens, maintains, tracks and stores the records for all cases filed in the Circuit Court, the Judicial Court, County Probate and Family Courts. Duties include providing for the safety, security, and maintenance of all official court records; collecting and filing, copy, and criminal costs/fees/assessments; and having deputy clerks attend hearings and trials to support the Court in fulfilling its judicial responsibilities.
