Tuscola County has 4 courts, the 54th Circuit Court, the 71B District Court, the Family Court, and the Probate Court. The courts share a Clerk of Court. The Clerk of Court is an elected official who serves a 4 year term. The clerk of court is the official record keeper for the court. As Clerk of the Court, the clerk opens, maintains, tracks and stores the records for all cases filed in all courts in the county.. Duties include providing for the safety, security, and maintenance of all official court records. The clerk of court records files for all courts within the county, including the circuit court and the probate courts.

RECORDS SEARCH AND PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST

Vital statistics records, such as birth, death, and marriage certificates can be obtained through the county clerk’s office. For information on how to request copies of these records, call 989-672-3780, or email [email protected].

For all other records, a FOIA record request form can be submitted. All FOIA requests must be submitted in writing. This includes requests received by facsimile, electronic mail or through other electronic means. Requests received by facsimile or other electronic means are considered received the first business day following the transmittal. A detailed description of the record being requested and the requester’s contact information is needed.
